- Whisk
- Rolling Pin
- Baking sheet or pizza stone
- Parchment paper
- Oven
Ingredients
- Ingredients
- For the Dough:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour plus extra for dusting
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
- 3/4 cup warm water 110°F
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- For the Topping:
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese shredded
- 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese grated
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- Fresh rosemary or thyme optional, for garnish
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Method
- Step 1: Prepare the Dough
- Activate the Yeast: In a mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- Mix Ingredients: Add flour, salt, and olive oil to the yeast mixture. Stir until a dough begins to form.
- Knead the Dough: Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Let It Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes, or until doubled in size.
- Step 2: Preheat the Oven
- While the dough is rising, preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat as well.
- Step 3: Prepare the Topping
- Mix Cheeses: In a bowl, combine ricotta, mozzarella, and Parmesan. Season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Prepare for Baking: Line your baking sheet or pizza stone with parchment paper.
- Step 4: Roll Out the Dough
- Shape the Dough: Once the dough has risen, punch it down and turn it out onto a floured surface. Roll it out into a round or rectangular shape, about 1/4 inch thick.
- Transfer to Baking Sheet: Carefully transfer the rolled-out dough onto your prepared baking sheet or pizza stone.
- Step 5: Assemble the Pizza
- Spread the Cheese Mixture: Evenly spread the cheese mixture over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
- Drizzle with Olive Oil: Drizzle the top with olive oil and sprinkle dried oregano over the cheese.
- Add Fresh Herbs: If using, scatter fresh rosemary or thyme on top for added flavor.
- Step 6: Bake the Pizza
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
- Step 7: Serve
- Cool Slightly: Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing.
- Enjoy: Serve warm, and enjoy your delicious Pizza Bianca.
- Variations
- Vegetarian: Add your favorite vegetables like spinach, artichokes, or roasted garlic.
- Meat Lovers: Top with prosciutto or cooked pancetta for added flavor.
- Gluten-Free: Substitute regular flour with a gluten-free flour blend.
