Step-by-Step Instructions
Prepare the Dough:
In a mixing bowl, combine flour, salt, and black pepper. If using cheese, mix it in.
Add the egg, milk, and water, stirring to form a soft dough.
Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
Cover with a damp cloth and let rest for 1 hour at room temperature.
Shape the Crescia:
Divide the dough into 6 equal portions.
Roll each portion into a thin round or oval, about 2mm thick.
Cook the Bread:
Heat a frying pan or griddle over medium heat and lightly oil it.
Cook each crescia for 2–3 minutes per side until golden spots appear and it puffs slightly.
Keep warm in a clean towel while cooking the rest.
Serve:
Serve warm or at room temperature with prosciutto, salami, cheeses, or as a base for spreads.
