Method
Step 1: Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). This will ensure that the frittata cooks evenly.
Step 2: Prepare the Ingredients
Chop the salumi and vegetables into bite-sized pieces.
Grate the cheese if you’re not using pre-grated cheese.
Step 3: Whisk the Eggs
In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk or cream, salt, and pepper until well combined. The mixture should be light and frothy.
Step 4: Sauté the Vegetables
Heat the olive oil or butter in an oven-safe skillet over medium heat.
Add the onions and bell peppers, sautéing until softened (about 3-4 minutes).
Step 5: Add the Salumi
Add the chopped salumi to the skillet and cook for another 2 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
Step 6: Combine the Mixture
Pour the egg mixture over the sautéed ingredients in the skillet.
Sprinkle the grated cheese evenly on top.
Allow it to cook undisturbed for 2-3 minutes, until the edges start to set.
Step 7: Bake the Frittata
Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven. Bake for about 10-15 minutes, or until the center is set and the top is slightly golden.
Step 8: Cool and Serve
Once done, carefully remove the skillet from the oven and let it stand for 5 minutes.
Slice the frittata into wedges and serve warm or at room temperature.
Garnish with fresh herbs if desired.
Variations
Vegetarian: Replace salumi with sautéed mushrooms, spinach, or zucchini.
Cheese Swap: Try different cheeses like goat cheese or cheddar.
Herbed Frittata: Add fresh herbs like dill or chives for an extra flavor boost.
