Method:
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). Prepare your pizza stone or baking sheet.
Roll out the dough: Divide the dough into two pieces and roll each out into about 10-inch circles. Place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
Sauté the mushrooms: In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant. Then, add the mushrooms and cook until tender, around 5-7 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
Assemble the pizza: Spread a thin layer of tomato sauce on the pizza dough. Evenly distribute the sautéed mushrooms over the sauce. Sprinkle both mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses on top.
Bake: Place the pizza in the oven and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.
Serve: Once out of the oven, slice it up and enjoy!
Variations & Tips:
Truffle Oil Twist: For an extra layer of luxury, drizzle a little truffle oil over the pizza before serving. This elevates the mushroom flavor and adds a rich, earthy aroma.
Vegan Option: Swap the mozzarella for a vegan cheese alternative and skip the Parmesan to make it dairy-free.
Gluten-Free Crust: If you're sensitive to gluten, use a gluten-free pizza dough to accommodate dietary needs.
Additional Toppings: Consider adding fresh thyme or rosemary to complement the mushrooms, or a few dollops of ricotta for extra creaminess.
