Method
Step 1: Prepare the Marinade
Mix Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine olive oil, minced garlic, lemon zest, lemon juice, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper. Whisk together until well blended.
Step 2: Marinate the Shrimp
Add Shrimp: Add the peeled and deveined shrimp to the marinade. Toss gently to ensure all the shrimp are well coated.
Marinate: Let the shrimp marinate for at least 15 minutes, but no more than 30 minutes, to prevent the shrimp from becoming too soft due to the lemon juice.
Step 3: Preheat the Grill
Heat the Grill: Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (about 400°F/200°C). If using a stovetop grill pan, ensure it is hot before cooking.
Step 4: Grill the Shrimp
Grill Shrimp: Using tongs, place the marinated shrimp on the grill. Cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they turn pink and opaque. Be careful not to overcook the shrimp, as they can become tough.
Step 5: Serve
Garnish and Serve: Remove the shrimp from the grill and place them on a serving platter. Sprinkle with fresh parsley for garnish and serve immediately with extra lemon wedges on the side.
Variations
Herb-Infused: Add a tablespoon of fresh herbs like basil or thyme to the marinade for a different flavor profile.
Spicy Kick: For a spicier version, add more red pepper flakes or a splash of hot sauce to the marinade.
Veggie Addition: Grill some vegetables, like zucchini or bell peppers, alongside the shrimp for a complete meal.
